Samuel S. Carr (American, 1837-1908) was born in England in 1837 and came to the United States around 1862. He was a genre painter who specialized in scenes of children at play, as well as peaceful landscapes of sheep. He usually signed his work as "S.S. Carr." He resided in Brooklyn, New York for the majority of his life. He died in 1908.
