Frederick Kolde (1870-1957) was a Cincinnati painter recognized for his landscapes and scenes of the Ohio River Valley. He studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, where he trained under Frank Duveneck, an influence evident in Kolde’s brushwork and grounded realism. Working primarily in oil and watercolor, Kolde favored quiet rural subjects, atmospheric river views, and everyday moments shaped by shifting light. Active in regional exhibitions throughout his career, he remained closely connected to Cincinnati’s artistic community.
