Jacob Greenleaf (American, 1887–1968)
Born in Reval (now Tallinn), Estonia, Jacob Greenleaf immigrated to the United States in 1905. He studied at the Vilno Art School in Russia and furthered his education in Paris. Settling in Rockport, Massachusetts, Greenleaf became known for his Impressionist landscapes, capturing the New England coast with vibrant color and light. He was a member of the American Artists Professional League and exhibited at the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, the North Shore Arts Association, the Rockport Art Association, and the National Academy of Design. His work is held in private collections and has been offered at auction through venues such as Eldred’s and Skinner Auctioneers.
