Frank J. Girardin (American, 1856–1945)
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Frank Girardin trained under Frank Noble and Frank Duveneck at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. He became known for his landscapes of Indiana and California, earning numerous awards including first prize for Lingering Snow at the Cincinnati Art Club Show and the Mary T. R. Foulke Prize.
He spent the first part of his career in Richmond, Indiana between 1880 and 1910, and was an active participant in the development of the Art Association of Richmond where he served on the Board of Directors for several years. He was also an original member of the local Sketch Club.
In 1910, he moved to Redondo Beach, California, continuing to paint the local scenery while maintaining ties to Indiana. His paintings are held in the Richmond Art Museum and the San Diego Art Museum.
