M. DeForest Bolmer

Born in Yonkers, New York, M. DeForest Bolmer showed an early interest in landscape painting, eventually studying in Paris in 1887 and Munich in 1890.

Bolmer exhibited regularly at the National Academy of Design over several decades, earning attention for works such as November, which depicts a vast stretch of open country with a storm rising, celebrated for its remarkable use of color. Based in New York, he remained committed to portraying nature, making his work a notable contribution to American landscape painting at the turn of the 20th century.
