Blair Apperson (1926-2001)

Apperson Elder Blair  Jr., 74, a renowned artist and retired tencher, of High Point, N.C., formerly of Richmond and Lively, died August 25, 2001, after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Elder Blair Apperson Sr. and Doris Northrup Crump Apperson of Newport News. Mr. Apperson was educated at Hargravc Military Academy and the University of Richmond, where he received a B.A. degree and a master's degree in English. He served in the medical corps of the U.S. Navy where he received honors. A celebrated artist for manv years, he was recognized at a showing in the Frans-Bader Gallery in Washington, D.C. He taught English at the University of Richmond and later moved to the Northern Neck where he was an instructor at Northumberland High School for over 15 years. . He is survived by a son, Allen Bernard Appcrson; two granddaughters, Mcagan Anne Appcrson and Alexis Leigh Appcrson, all of Virginia Beach, and two sisters, Robinette Northrup Apperson Johnson and Doris Crump Appcrson Ratcliffe, both of Richmond.
