John William Vawter

(American, 1871-1941)

John "Will" Vawter was born in Virginia in 1871.  He moved to Greenfield, Indiana in 1877 and started his career as a cartoonist and illustrator and later painted Indiana landscapes as well.  His sketches often appeared in weekly issues of Life Magazine.  He died in 1941.
