Eloise Egan

American (1874-1967)

Egan was born in 1874. She maintained homes in Westport, CT and Saint Paul, France.  Egan studied with artists such as Wayman Adams, George Elmer Browne and George Luks, evidenced by her bold brush strokes and liberal use of color.  Eloise Egan was well received and well exhibited even in her own day.  She was honored by exhibiting at the National Academy of Design at least five times between the years of 1936 and 1942.  She also exhibited at the Studio Guild, Allied Artists in America, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts as well as internationally. In 1940 she was given a one man show at Durand-Ruel Galleries in New York City.  She died in 1967.
